A Day in Indy

So yesterday we rolled into Indianapolis around 1 p.m. and left this morning at about 9 a.m., making this a Daycation. Not a Staycation, because we did drive about 3 hours to and 3 hours back from Indy; and not a Mini-Vacation exactly either, perhaps a Mini-Mini-cation? But I like Daycation, so I'm sticking with it.

Here's our trip in a nutshell...

As seen on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives...Steer-In!

Located at 5130 E. 10th Street this Diner (and previous Drive-In) has been in business since 1960.

Meatball Sub and Beef & Noodles. Both yummy.

The homemade Apple Pie Ala Mode was super delicious!

The next area we explored was Mass Ave. (Massachusetts Avenue) not too far from Downtown. Homespun was the reason we came to the area, it's located at 869 Massachusetts Ave.

The entire area was very cute and bike friendly. You can even rent bikes for $8/day!

We also stopped by City Dog, The Best Chocolates in Town...

...and Indy Reads Books, which is a used book store that's profits go towards literacy in the city.  Super cool outside, super cool inside.

After checking into our hotel we took a stroll around Downtown Indy.

More from Downtown Indy.

After stopping back by the hotel to freshen up, it was dinner time. We headed back to Mass Ave to Ralston's Draft House at 635. We went because the interior was supposed to have a vintage vibe...

...but honestly we didn't go in because we ate at their outside seating area. It was such a beautiful evening, we lingered after we ate our Dog Biscuits (bacon wrapped pretzels) and pulled pork flatbread. Then we headed back to the hotel, and nibbled our chocolate we got earlier in the day.

Short. Sweet. Lots of fun.

This morning consisted of waking up, checking out of the hotel (that we scored on Priceline for a steal!), and a very quick stop by a coffeehouse on the way out of the city.

I really hope to get back to Indianapolis soon, as there is tons more I'd love to explore.

Have you been to Indy? Any places that you'd suggest for our (anyone else's) next Daycation?
