A First Look at Retrofit Culture: The Shop

So as many of you saw in my last blog post, I will be opening my own little shop in Bloomington, Illinois. It's in the Warehouse District, just south of the US Cellular Coliseum in Downtown Bloomington.

Here are some of the first pictures of the space...

Plus a restroom, and beyond that, a dressing room...

The space was painted and move in ready. But that's not how I roll. I've been dreaming of having a store for so long, and I want to make it my own.

Next step, was picking out paint...

The shop is now all painted and fixtures are being installed, but I'll save those pictures for another day. If you want to follow along with the shop's transformations, watch Facebook and Twitter for #RetrofitCulture #OpeningSoon.

Retrofit Culture will open next weekend, Saturday & Sunday, September 14 & 15, 10am-5pm. We will then be open for the rest of September, Friday-Sunday, 10am-5pm.
I hope you can make it to our Grand Opening Weekend, Oct 5-6. More details coming later in the month.

  1. I wish we lived closer so I could come! I'm sooo excited for you though!

  2. Wow! Congrats...I wanna be just like you when I grow up!

  3. Yay!!! It's going to be awesome!

  4. Jealous! I would love to have opportunity to "design" interiors of stores, restaurants, bars, etc! Will landlord let you change ceiling and lighting? Not familiar with commercial leasing. If you have to keep the "drop" ceiling I know a vendor that sells decorative panels for drop ceiling grids and cheap. They are made to look like the old tin roofs! Let me know if you want his info!
